Montespertoli, on top of picturesque hills in the Chianti region in central Tuscany, is the municipality in which the guest house is situated. The main town stands at 257 metres above sea level, 25 km from Florence. Typically of the Chianti region, the landscape - a group of morphologically uniform hills with fertile lands - is extremely varied.
The local climate is mild though exposed to the four winds. The constant breeze keeps the air pure and healthy.
Montespertoli, with its vineyards, wineries and Chianti Festival, is one of the wine capitals of Tuscany. Wine, along with olive oil and bread, has historically been one of the things for which the entire area is most famous. The municipal territory boasts good road signage, a range of eateries offering traditional Tuscan cooking located in the various villages that make up the municipality, a Tourist Information Centre (home of the “Pro-Loco” organisation which promotes the town and local area) and a large tourist and sports centre in the Molino del Ponte locality with football pitch, covered tennis courts, five-a-side football pitch, clay pigeon shooting, sports stadium, swimming pool, hotel and restaurant.
The lay-out of the area makes it well-suited to organisation of several days’ worth of cultural tours and visits. Of particular interest are the Museum of Sacred Art in the Parish Church of San Piero in Mercato and the A. Bassi Picture Gallery in Piazza Machiavelli.
Each year, from the last Sunday in May to the first Sunday in June, the "Mostra Mercato del Vino Chianti" (Chianti Wine Market Show) is held. It is organised by the municipal council with the aim of promoting the main local agricultural product: wine.
