ViniMontespertoli, with its vineyards, wineries and Chianti Festival, is one of the wine capitals of Tuscany and a member of the Italian Association of Wine Towns. The excellent climate, exposure to the sun and quality of the land have led to the cultivation of approximately 1,600 ha of grapevines of which 1,400 are grown to DOCG standard. The annual grape production is approximately 190,000 ql with wine production of 140,110 hl of which 91,152 is DOCG.

Four different grapes are used to make Montespertoli Chianti, the most important of which are Sangiovese grapes (70-100%), which result in elegant and velvety wines that are ruby-red in colour tending towards garnet with ageing, with a good structure and a bouquet of forest fruits and violets.
Through appropriate grape selection, a Chianti can also be produced for ageing, suitable for making RESERVE which is desired by the most discerning consumers and particularly the foreign market. White Chianti wines, made by controlled fermentation of Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes, have been continually improving due, in part, to the fact that, in recent years, grapevines with vines considered “noble”, such as Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Riesling, have been planted.

ViniAnother wine produced locally is the famous VIN SANTO. This wine plays an important role in country tradition and is the drink of the main feasts and holidays. The origin of the name is a mystery. Some say it could derive from the wine’s use during Mass, while others believe it comes from the custom of crushing the grapes very late, after the Festivals of the Saints. With its amber-yellow colour, intense, ethereal bouquet and velvety, harmonious taste with slightly sweet overtures, Vin Santo goes well with many sweet Tuscan dishes.
Another important product is VINO NOVELLO which is highly esteemed thanks to its fresh, fruity bouquet and smooth, fragrant taste.
